If you uncover a wet layer when you pick up the top layer you want to wait for this area to dry before repeating the pickup process with your paper towels.
Taking clumping litter off carpet.
Lay a carpet runner from the litter box extending out about three feet so the litter has plenty of time to dislodge from your cat s paws.
They looked pretty and were said to.
Unfortunately i couldn t say the same for the litter tracks around the house.
I tried asking around and looking online for ideas of how to get it off with no luck so dh put carpet cleaner on the spot and shampooed it.
Reconsider your litter.
Then i turned to fancy cat litter box furniture.
If litter is really driving you bonkers consider switching to a silica gel or recycled paper litter.
So off i went to build a cardboard castle.
A full canister or bag causes the vacuum to spread the litter instead of sucking it up.
Go get a paper towel and gently lift up as much of the stray cat litter as you possibly can from your carpet.
My fortress looked clumsy because i m no diy expert but it did reduce the litter spread around the box s immediate surrounding.
Vacuum over the litter spot.
Step one allow the litter to dry.
By the time the bed was moved and i discovered it the cat has used this pile for a litter box as well.
Loosen the dried litter from the carpet fibers using a scrub brush.
Step 1 empty the canister or replace the bag in your vacuum prior to cleaning up the litter.
I could vacuum up most of the litter but it was the clumping kind and some clumps stuck to the carpet.
Push it down between carpet fibers or pile and dig in with tool.
If you still see litter repeat the step until it is completely gone.
Then get a shop vac which will suck up wet or damp anything no big deal and go at it again.
The vacuum should collect a majority if not all of the litter.
Getting both the litter and the odor out freshens your carpet and prevents your cats from being drawn to urinate in the area.
So this isn t the most effective trick unless you combine it with other hacks as i ve just mentioned above but it still helps especially if you live in a small house.
Economical clumping easy to use and unfortunately the most easily tracked around the house.
Any one of these suggestions will help reduce the amount.
